SLGA009 captures the quiet mood of white birch forests near the Shinshu Watch Studio, home of Grand Seiko Spring Drive watchmaking. The timepiece is powered by the Spring Drive Caliber 9RA2, which features an innovative high-precision mechanism that compensates for variations in the oscillator’s performance by measuring the temperature 540 times per hour, and offers a power reserve of approximately 120 hours (about five days) when fully wound.

The tachymeter bezel is made of highly scratch-resistant ceramic, allowing it to maintain its refined appearance over time.
A dial designed in pursuit of the ideal chronograph
The dial design follows the Evolution 9 Style and adopts a traditional chronograph layout. The distinctive hour and minute hands, along with the indexes with Lumibrite, are positioned with minimal clearance to enhance not only legibility during time measurement but also overall time readability. Mt. Iwate, visible from the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, serves as a source of inspiration and a spiritual anchor for the craftspeople. The dial combines a delicate pattern inspired by the mountain’s surface with a transparent blue tone, expressing the starry sky that spreads above its summit. This design reflects a vision of reaching the pinnacle of the ideal chronograph.
