A five-day Spring Drive watch inspired by Lake Suwa stirred by the breeze before dawn.
Features
This model’s case embodies the Evolution 9 Style, a further development of the Grand Seiko Style design language established in 1967. With its textured pattern, the blue dial expresses the surface of Lake Suwa before dawn. This body of water is located in an area near the place where Spring Drive watches are crafted at the Shinshu Watch Studio, which is housed in a Seiko Epson facility in the city of Shiojiri. This model is powered by the Spring Drive 5 Days Caliber 9RA2, which features an innovative high-precision mechanism that compensates for variations in the oscillator’s performance by measuring the temperature 540 times per hour and offers a power reserve of approximately 120 hours (about five days) when fully wound.

The essence of Grand Seiko is infused with Japanese beauty.
Born in the pursuit of the ideal wristwatch, the Evolution 9 Collection evinces a new design grammar that evolved from the Grand Seiko Style of 1967. Through the new Evolution 9 Style, Grand Seiko forges a new path while honoring its origins.
A dial inspired by Lake Suwa
The dial’s distinctive texture is inspired by the surface of Lake Suwa, located southeast of the Shinshu Watch Studio, where the watch is crafted. It captures the serene beauty of the lake just before dawn, as gentle winds ripple across the water in the quiet morning darkness. Combined with the smooth, gliding motion of the Spring Drive seconds hand, the design evokes the subtle passage of time felt in the stillness of the lakeside.
Spring Drive 5 Days Caliber 9RA2
This watch is powered by Grand Seiko’s Spring Drive Caliber 9RA2, a movement that maintains the same high level of performance as the Caliber 9RA5, which debuted in 2020. With Caliber 9RA2, the power reserve indicator is on the back to further slim down the watch’s profile. The case back shows the movement, which has a subtle decoration of “Shinshu Frost,” which captures the frost that can be seen throughout the Shinshu region during periods of intense cold. This representation resonates with the power reserve indicator hand, which is tempered to a beautiful shade of blue, to communicate a peaceful expression.
