A Grand Seiko Spring Drive masterpiece from the Micro Artist Studio with an eight-day power reserve.
The 9R Spring Drive 8Days is driven by a Spring Drive, and the first Grand Seiko to be produced by the specialists in high quality watches at the Micro Artist Studio in Seiko’s facility in Shiojiri, near Nagano.
It contains caliber 9R01 Spring Drive with an eight-day power reserve made possible by an innovative approach to the barrel which preserves power by controlling the mainspring. The existing Spring Drive caliber contains one barrel, but the caliber 9R01 has three that are linked together, extending the usage time given from each wind by over 250%.
The case material is rare platinum 950, a blend containing 95% platinum. A specially developed Zaratsu polishing technique is used to give the case a sharply defined edge and exquisite finish never before seen on a platinum case.
The pure white dial has a glittering diamond-dust effect reminiscent of a winter morning in the Suwa region, near the studio, a unique composite finish that ensures high-visibility and glistens as it catches the light.
