A center to experience art
that stands within
an abundant forest

Aomori Contemporary Art Centre, Aomori Public University, which opened in Aomori City, Aomori Prefecture, in 2001, was established as a place to generate new artistic culture through interaction between the artists and local citizens. Its central program is the Artist in Residence Program, which invites artists from Japan and abroad. Works inspired by this land are exhibited on the nature-blessed expansive grounds.

Workshops and seminars with the participation of local residents are also conducted at the Creative Hall and other facilities. In this way the center goes beyond just a place where works of art can be appreciated, to be one where people can enjoy experiencing art. The architecture by Tadao Ando is designed to be in symbiosis with the abundant natural environment, with the buildings positioned to avoid cutting trees to all possible extent. Facilities that stand as if buried among the trees of the forest make even the changing seasons and the flow of time seem like artistic works on display.

Functionality and beauty are well balanced in this Grand Seiko Heritage Collection SBGJ201. Sold exclusively at Grand Seiko Boutiques, Grand Seiko Salons, and Grand Seiko Master Shops.

A beautiful, classic model
that is easily legible
from any angle

With hour markers and hands that are diamond cut to enhance legibility and a case composed of distortion-free polished surfaces, SBGJ201 is a classic model carrying on the Grand Seiko Style, the distinctive design code of Grand Seiko. It has a bright blue steel GMT hand, which shows the time in the home time zone. By pulling out the crown, the hour hand in the center, which shows the local time, is adjusted in a jump to easily show the time in another time zone.

SBGJ201 carries the Cal.9S86 movement, which is completely made in-house. Although the GMT function has been added, high precision is realized through the 36,000 beats per hour, hi-beat movement. The dial has a pattern inspired by the slopes of the spectacular Mount Iwate, which can be seen from the Shizuku-ishi Watch Studio where it is made. This further highlights the distinctive beauty of the watch.
