18k rose gold model equipped with the Spring Drive 8 Days, produced in the Micro Artist Studio

The Micro Artist Studio is responsible for the highest-end Spring Drive models. Its work is carried out by the craftsmen and women of this esteemed studio, who possess the highest levels of experience and skill. These craftsmen and women have combined their skills to create the Caliber 9R01, the first Micro Artist Studio movement developed exclusively for Grand Seiko.
Developed based on the combination of the brand philosophy and the inquisitive spirit of the studio, Caliber 9R01 uses a mechanism in which three barrels achieve an extended eight-day power reserve. This ensures the high precision of the movement over a long period of time.
The movement is polished and finished beautifully by master craftsmen.
The elegant form of the 18K rose gold case is made possible by the superior polishing techniques. The dial evokes the starry sky as seen above the mountains of Shinshu.

A beautiful dial that evokes a starry sky

Nagano Prefecture is called the roof of Japan, and 80% of the prefecture is mountainous terrain.
At night, one can encounter a fantastic view of a starry sky outside the Micro Artist Studio, surrounded by mountains.
Inspired by the view of a starry sky, a black dial was developed that displays a multi-layered coloration applied after special processing.
The dial generates a sparkling light similar to that of stars, with a pattern of the starry sky further emitted when light penetrates the surface.
Above this dial, the longest minute and seconds hands used in the Grand Seiko watches move silently and smoothly.

A design that emits a sharp, sparkling light

This creation features a form that imparts a majestic presence.
To make the ridgeline stand out, the case is polished to a distortion-free mirror finish by master craftsmen.
The brilliance of rose gold is further enhanced as light dances over the sharp ridgeline.

Caliber 9R01

This Spring Drive movement was developed by the Micro Artist Studio exclusively for Grand Seiko.
Drawing on three barrels, it achieves the power reserve of up to approximately 8 days (192 hours).
To maximize this long power reserve, a unique time-adjustment mechanism can be used without stopping the hands.
To ensure the beautiful appearance of the dial, the power reserve indicator is located on the bridge, which can be viewed through the case back.
