A platinum 950 model equipped with the Spring Drive 8 Days, produced in the Micro Artist Studio

The Micro Artist Studio is responsible for the highest-end Spring Drive models. This work is carried out by the craftsmen and women of this esteemed studio, who possess the highest levels of experience and skill. These craftsmen and women have combined their skills to create the Caliber 9R01, the first Micro Artist Studio movement developed exclusively for Grand Seiko.
Developed based on the combination of the brand philosophy and the inquisitive spirit of the studio, Caliber 9R01 uses a mechanism in which three barrels achieve an extended eight-day power reserve. This ensures the high precision of the movement over a long period of time.
The movement is polished and finished beautifully by master craftsmen. The impressive form of the Platinum 950 case is made possible through superior polishing techniques, and the dial evokes the morning snows of the Suwa region, sparkling like diamond dust.

A beautiful dial that sparkles like diamond dust

On the plateaus of the Suwa region of Nagano Prefecture, when certain conditions are met on the coldest mornings, one can encounter a magnificent phenomenon described as “diamond dust.”
The craftsmen developed this model inspired by the natural scenery that can be observed in this region. This dial with multi-layered coloration is achieved by the application of a special process in which no white paint is used.
There is an incomparable beauty to the dial's texture, as if particles of ice are twinkling.
Above the dial, the longest minute and seconds hands used in the Grand Seiko watches move silently and smoothly.

A design that emits a sharp, sparkling light

This model features a form that imparts a majestic presence.
To make the ridge line stand out, the case is polished with no distortion by master craftsmen.
The brilliance of platinum is brought out even further as light dances over the sharp ridge line.

Caliber 9R01

This Spring Drive movement was developed by the Micro Artist Studio exclusively for Grand Seiko.
Drawing on three barrels, it achieves the power reserve of up to approximately 8 days (192 hours).
To maximize this long power reserve, a unique time-adjustment mechanism can be used without stopping the hands.
To ensure the beautiful appearance of the dial, the power reserve indicator is located on the bridge, which can be viewed through the case back.
