Born in 1967, the 44GS is the watch that established Grand Seiko’s unique design philosophy, known as the Grand Seiko Style.
This contemporary version, a 36.6mm mechanical model, retains the character of the original. Like its 1960s counterpart, its angular design depicts myriad expressions of light and shadow. This new creation, however, adds the warm luster of 18k rose gold.
The dial features a stunning pressed pattern inspired by Mt. Iwate, the peak visible through the windows of the Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, where this watch and other Grand Seiko mechanical models are crafted. Its colour evokes the tranquil, snowy landscape of Mt. Iwate in winter.
The watch is powered by the mechanical Calibre 9S64, visible through the see-through case back. It provides a power reserve of 72 hours and an accuracy of +5/-3 seconds per day.
