Unique moments in photographs from the heart of contemporary Tokyo
Tradition and innovation.
Carving out Tokyo time, from the distant
past into the future.
Tokyo, a city that transforms from district to district,
molding time in step with each locale.
A crossroads of glamour, atmosphere, and technology.
Photographer Gregory Harris captures modern Tokyo,
where all of these elements converge.

The SLGC001 is powered by a high beat chronograph movement running at
10 vibrations per second – a crowning symbol of the next-generation of Grand Seiko.
The timepiece realizes the world’s longest maximum power reserve for
a mechanical chronograph, approximately 72 hours (or around three days) with the chronograph running.
In combination with the “Mt. Iwate pattern,” portraying the majestic image
of the surface of the peak as it is visible from Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, this creation expresses rich, flowing light.
TOYOSU
The new Tokyo, extending the panoramic view of the city center into the next generation.
This coastal area provides a panoramic view of the cluster of buildings at the city’s center, vast skies overhead, and a view of Tokyo Bay.
Recent years have brought the construction of the Toyosu Market, a commuter development, and other vivid signs of progress. This has created a showcase for the state-of-the-art construction technology for which Japan is renowned.
The district itself, manifested in elaborate grace, provides an ideal backdrop for the functional beauty of the SLGC001 – a mechanical chronograph crystalizing the technology for which Grand Seiko is famed.

The SLGC001, the first Grand Seiko mechanical chronograph,
evokes images of the unique scenery of Toyosu and other parts of this rapidly developing coastal area.
The dial, which features the “Mt. Iwate pattern,”
evokes the image of the surface of that peak, and likewise conveys the rock-solid image
of the towering view of this cluster of buildings across Tokyo Bay.
